Basketball Recap: Layton Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Layton Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were outmatched by the Overland Trailblazers and fell 59-27. The matchup marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Layton Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Ava Smith, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. Smith has been hot, having posted ten or more rebounds the last five times she's played.

Overland's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Michaela Halton, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Those ten boards gave Halton a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Davis, who went 6 of 9 on her way to 16 points.

Layton Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Overland, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-2.

Layton Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-18 victory against Bruce Randolph on the 19th. As for Overland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 66-47 win against Cornerstone Christian on the 19th.
