Football Recap: Dunbar Skates Past Lake Clifton with Ease + How To Watch

Dunbar got themselves on the board against Lake Clifton on Friday, but Lake Clifton never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 58-0 victory over the Lakers. That looming 58-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Poets yet this season.

Dunbar's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaiyon Newton led the charge by rushing for 57 yards and one touchdown on only six carries. Normauri Johnson also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Johnson, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a punt return touchdown from him.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Dunbar's defense and their six sacks. Leading the way was Savion Williams with three. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with six.

The win keeps Dunbar at an undefeated 4-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 42.0 points this season. As for Lake Clifton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Coming up, Dunbar will look to defend their home field on Friday against City College at 5:00 p.m. As for Lake Clifton, they are taking a road trip to challenge Douglass at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the Lakers their first taste of in-conference action this season.
