Football Recap: North Brunswick Takes a Loss

North Brunswick suffered their closest loss since October 25, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of the St. Pauls Bulldogs by a score of 35-33. The Scorpions gained 77 more yards on the day, but it was the Bulldogs that made the best use of them.

When it comes to explaining why North Brunswick lost, don't look at Jonah Campbell. Despite the final result, he threw for 321 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 86 yards and one TD on only five carries. The Scorpions' leading receiver Kylel Hansley was Campbell's top target yet again, picking up 154 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Yoshua McBryde continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for St. Pauls, rushing for 390 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.8 yards per carry. McBryde really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run.

This is the second loss in a row for North Brunswick and nudges their season record down to 1-3. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 points. As for St. Pauls, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Coming up, North Brunswick will be playing at home against New Hanover at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Scorpions their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for St. Pauls, they will head out to face off against Fairmont at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
