Baseball Recap: Amundsen's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Amundsen came into Monday's contest having lost nine straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Lincoln Park Lions 6-5. For the Vikings, this counts as revenge for the 8-3 victory the Lions walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.

The team relied heavily on Bennett Newman, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Asher Antonyzyn was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run.

Amundsen's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 3-15. As for Lincoln Park, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-9 record.

Amundsen will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lions: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
