Softball Recap: Samson Takes a Loss

Samson managed to slip by Geneva County the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Tigers came up short against the Bulldogs on Wednesday, falling 16-2. The game marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Samson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ally Zorn, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Emma Sormrude was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Samson's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Geneva County, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Samson will head out to square off against New Brockton at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Gamecocks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.47 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Geneva County, they are taking a road trip to take on Graceville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
