Baseball Recap: Douglas Comes Up Short

Douglas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 9-4 to the Spanish Springs Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-2 on April 12th.

Douglas saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blaine Bilderback, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Another was Jared Peters, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Douglas' loss dropped their record down to 10-16. As for Spanish Springs, their victory bumped their record up to 19-10.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Douglas will head out on the road to challenge Reno at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last seven games the Huskies have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Spanish Springs, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Reed at 4:00 p.m.
