Basketball Preview: Stanton County Trojans vs. Springfield Longhorns

The Stanton County Trojans will be playing at home against the Springfield Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.

Stanton County put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They breezed by Wallace County at home to the tune of 69-35. Winning may never get old, but Stanton County sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Alvin Solis went supernova for Stanton County, scoring 13 points along with three steals. Solis continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of David Crane, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Springfield was handed a two-point loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against the Bobcats on Friday. Springfield claimed a resounding 56-24 win over the Bobcats at home. That 32 point margin sets a new team best for Springfield this season.

Stanton County is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Springfield, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5.

Everything came up roses for Stanton County against the Longhorns in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 63-36 win. Will Stanton County repeat their success, or do the Longhorns have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
