Baseball Game Preview: University School Buccaneers vs. Johnson County Longhorns

The University School Buccaneers will square off against the Johnson County Longhorns at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. University School will be strutting in after a win while Johnson County will be coming in after a loss.

University School's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over Sullivan East. The game was the first time the Buccaneers have beaten the Patriots on their field since March 22, 2022.

Meanwhile, Johnson County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Happy Valley.

Carson Jennings put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (one). He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Jennings wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kaden Blevins, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Johnson County's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for University School, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
