Basketball Recap: Morningside Academy Starts Season with Victory Against Brevard HEAT

Morningside Academy took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. They breezed past the Brevard HEAT Firehawks to the tune of 67-25. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 31-9.

Morningside Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was AJ Chang out in front who almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine assists. Chang's big performance that evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Aiden Valcin was another key player, going 8-for-15 to rack up 19 points and six boards.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Morningside Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brevard HEAT only posted two.

Morningside Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 41-38 loss against Jensen Beach on the 18th. As for Brevard HEAT, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 73-39 defeat against Calvary Chapel Academy on the 18th.
