Football Recap: Buena Vista Piles Up the Points Against Holyoke + How To Watch

With a playoff win on the line, Buena Vista rose to the challenge on Friday. They claimed a resounding 48-14 win over the Holyoke Dragons. The result was nothing new for the Demons, who have now won eight games by 21 points or more so far this season.

Eli Schuknecht continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 130 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 52 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Buena Vista was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 305 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 183 rushing yards in six consecutive contests.

Buena Vista's defense stepped up as well, laying out Colby Weber three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Abel Flowers, Casius Ortlet, and Logan Scott, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Holyoke's side was Flowers, who picked up a sack and made eight total tackles (4.0 for loss) in addition to snagging an interception.

Although Holyoke took the loss, they still got scores from Elbin Padilla and Dathyn Dirks.

Buena Vista pushed their record up to 10-0 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.9 points over those games. As for Holyoke, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

As of now, neither Buena Vista nor the Dragons have any future games scheduled.
