Football Game Preview: Barbe Buccaneers vs. Sulphur Golden Tors + How To Watch

The Barbe Buccaneers will square off against the Sulphur Golden Tors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Barbe will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.

On Friday, Barbe made easy work of Lafayette and carried off a 63-40 victory. Considering the Buccaneers have won three matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Jelandon Gray continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 200 yards and three TDs on only ten carries, while also throwing for 161 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 passes. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run. Myles Ledoux was another key player, picking up 79 receiving yards and one score.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Barbe was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 401 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 150 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Another reason for the win was Barbe's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In that department, Conner Vallerie was the leader with two. He also made six total tackles, which is notable because Barbe is 3-1 when he posts at least three total tackles, but 0-4 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Sulphur played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 66-34 loss at the hands of Carencro. The Golden Tors have struggled against the Bears recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Barbe's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Sulphur, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Barbe strolled past Sulphur in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 by a score of 28-13. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Golden Tors' Brodie DePriest, who threw for 241 yards and a pair of TDs. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Buccaneers to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
