Recap: Chapin Huskies vs. Cooper Cougars
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Chapin Huskies can now relate to. They received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 42-27 to Cooper.
Despite the loss, Chapin saw an underclassman step up: Daveon Singleton rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries, and also threw for 115 yards and a touchdown.
Daniel Bray was on fire for Cooper: he rushed for 253 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.7 yards per carry. Bray really tore up the turf during one magnificent 77-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Cummins, who threw for 130 yards and two touchdowns.
Chapin's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Cooper, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-6.
Chapin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cooper will square off against Colleyville Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Colleyville Heritage is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.
