The McCallie Blue Tornado are taking a road trip to take on the Cleveland Blue Raiders at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
McCallie is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over East Hamilton on Thursday. The Blue Tornado haven't had any issues with the Hurricanes recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Nolan Abbott looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Chandler Jones was excellent, going 3-for-6 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. David Stonecipher was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-6.
McCallie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Cleveland waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Owls by a score of 6-1.
Ethan Guy tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sam Coleman, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Collin Stuart, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Cleveland pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for McCallie, their record now sits at 3-5.
