Basketball Recap: Service Cougars vs. Dimond Lynx

On Saturday, the Service Cougars faced the Dimond Lynx in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Service fell to the Lynx 53-49. Service has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Service saw an underclassman step up: Aryanna Watson scored 29 points. That was a full 59.2% of Service's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Patri Ferran, who scored eight points.

Service dropped their record down to 6-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Dimond, their win bumped their record up to 13-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Service is on the road again on Monday and plays the Golden Bears at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Alaska (Bartlett is ranked 26th, while the Cougars are ranked 19th). As for Dimond, they will head out on the road to face off against the Thunderbirds at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bettye Davis East Anchorage comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
