Baseball Recap: Arroyo Valley Gets the Win

After losing to Polytechnic the last time they met, Arroyo Valley decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Arroyo Valley Hawks walked away with a 5-2 win over the Polytechnic Panthers on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hawks.

Miguel Acosta and Jake Jimenez were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Acosta tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Jimenez pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Acosta scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Jimenez scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Michael Rosas, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another was Roy Reyes, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Arroyo Valley's record now sits at 5-3. As for Polytechnic, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Arroyo Valley will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Indio at 4:00 p.m. on March 19th. As for Polytechnic, they will take on Eagle Rock at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
