The East Carteret Mariners will head out to face off against the Warren County Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
East Carteret is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Gates County, posting a 61-18 victory. The win was nothing new for the Mariners as they're now sitting on three straight.
Luke McIntosh continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 44 yards and two TDs, while also throwing for 224 yards and a pair of touchdowns. A healthy portion of that aerial production (136 yards to be exact) went to Jackson Greene, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Another reason for the win was East Carteret's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Myles Shelton and Isaiah Payton, who racked up five sacks between them. Shelton also rushed for 136 rushing yards, which is notable because East Carteret is undefeated when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 3-5 otherwise.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Friday. Warren County took their contest with ease, bagging a 36-6 victory over Rosewood.
Warren County's win came from a few key players East Carteret will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Graham Hosch, who rushed for 145 yards on only 15 carries. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 122 rushing yards. Jonathan Andrews was another key player, picking up 90 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Warren County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 246 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 199 rushing yards in six consecutive matchups.
Warren County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Amir Gamble and Cameron Giddings. Warren County received some extra help from Gamble, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Warren County's record is now 9-2. As for East Carteret, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
