Preview: Kearney Catholic Stars vs. Ashland-Greenwood Bluejays

The Kearney Catholic Stars will be playing at home against the Ashland-Greenwood Bluejays on Thursday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Saturday, Kearney Catholic didn't have too much trouble with Scotus on the road as they won 61-47. 61 seems to be a good number for Kearney Catholic as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Kearney Catholic got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Owen Axmann out in front who scored 20 points. Carson Murphy was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven assists.

Meanwhile, Ashland-Greenwood stacked an 11th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They blew past Malcolm 52-24 at home. The win was familiar territory for Ashland-Greenwood who now have six in a row.

Ashland-Greenwood found their leader in underclassman Derek Tonjes, who scored 24 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dane Jacobsen, who scored 13 points.

Kearney Catholic's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-8. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Ashland-Greenwood, their win bumped their record up to 17-2.
