After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Torrington, Waterbury Career Academy was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They blew past the Derby Red Raiders 23-11. The win continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Red Raiders: they've now won five in a row.

Waterbury Career Academy got a massive performance out of Payton Godfrey, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Godfrey has posted since back in April of 2024. Camilla Garcia also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Waterbury Career Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Waterbury Career Academy's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Derby, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.
