Basketball Game Preview: Claremont Wolfpack vs. West Covina Bulldogs

The Claremont Wolfpack will be taking part in a tournament against the West Covina Bulldogs at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Claremont is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.1 points per game this season.

Last Thursday, Claremont lost to Walnut on the road by a 64-48 margin. While losing is never fun, the Wolfpack can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 808th, while the Mustangs are ranked 255th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jaden Wang, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 16 points. Tyler Zitar was another key player, putting up nine points and five steals.

Meanwhile, West Covina beat Alhambra 62-53 on Saturday.

West Covina now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Claremont, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.

Claremont came up short against West Covina in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 63-57. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of West Covina's Steven Julio, who went 9 of 11 on his way to 23 points and eight rebounds. Now that Claremont knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
