Preview: Anthem Prep Eagles vs. Antelope Rams
The Anthem Prep Eagles will play host again and welcome the Antelope Rams, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Anthem Prep posted their biggest victory since December 16, 2023 on Thursday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 67-33 win over North Phoenix Preparatory Academy. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Anthem Prep has posted against North Phoenix Preparatory Academy since December 5, 2018.
Anthem Prep found their leader in underclassman Cole Schirm, who scored 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Schirm has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Titus Franklin, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Antelope scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They claimed a resounding 112-41 victory over San Pasqual Valley at home. Winning may never get old, but Antelope sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Antelope to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alizay Figueroa, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Figueroa pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Martinez, who scored 19 points along with five assists and three steals.
Anthem Prep has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Antelope, they pushed their record up to 12-3 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Anthem Prep took their win against Antelope when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 66-41. Will Anthem Prep repeat their success, or does Antelope have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
