Baseball Recap: Woodland Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After only one run in their last game, Woodland made sure to put some runs up on the board against Dixon on Wednesday. Woodland was the clear victor by a 15-5 margin over Dixon. The Wolves' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

David Tanner spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Woodland got a big performance out of PJ Pinegar, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Dylan Johns was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Woodland hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dixon struck out nine times.

With the win, Woodland broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-5. As for Dixon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6-1 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Woodland beat Dixon by a score of 12-2 on Friday.
