Basketball Game Preview: Woodward Academy War Eagles vs. Lakeside Vikings

Woodward Academy is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Thursday. They will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on the Lakeside Vikings at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Woodward Academy is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Westlake. The War Eagles walked away with a 73-62 win over the Lions last Saturday.

Woodward Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jarvis Hayes Jr. out in front who went 9-for-16 en route to 26 points in addition to five boards and four steals. The contest was Hayes Jr.'s third in a row with at least 15 points. Myles Hayes was another key player, shooting 50% from the field on his way to 15 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakeside). They breezed past Stone Mountain to the tune of 80-48 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won four in a row.

Woodward Academy strolled past Lakeside in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 66-47. Do the War Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
