Football Recap: Gage Gibbons Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Norman

Deer Creek's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 30-28 victory over the Norman Tigers. For the Antlers, this counts as revenge for the 54-27 win the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Deer Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gage Gibbons, who picked up 115 receiving yards and one TD. Those 115 receiving yards gave Gibbons a new career-high. Lemar Davis handled things on the ground, rushing for 108 yards.

Despite the loss, Norman still got an impressive performance from Anthony Johnson, who rushed for 134 yards and a pair of scores on only 15 carries. Johnson's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 103 rushing yards.

Deer Creek's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Norman, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-2.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Deer Creek will face off against rival Bixby at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. Meanwhile, Norman is set to square off against their familiar foe Mustang at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st.
