Football Recap: Hot Springs Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

Hot Springs had won five straight on the road, but on Friday they bumped up to 8-1 to make it six. They put the hurt on the Camden Fairview Cardinals with a sharp 42-21 win. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won six matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.

It was another big night for Sedrick Allen, who rushed for 90 yards and a pair of scores on only ten carries, and also threw for 165 yards and three TDs. Allen is crushing it when it comes to passing touchdowns: he's passed for at least three every time he's taken the field this season. 99 of Allen's passing yards were hauled in by Gabriel / Gabe Jaime, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Another reason for the win was Hot Springs' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. They received some extra help from Jaime, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

As for Camden Fairview, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-4 record. Surprisingly, this marked their fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

When it comes to explaining why Camden Fairview lost, don't look at Dayton Browning. Despite the final result, he rushed for 199 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.0 yards per carry, and also picked up 56 receiving yards. Browning really tore up the turf during one magnificent 86-yard run. Another player making a difference was Brodie Dow, who rushed for 56 yards and one TD.

Hot Springs has already played their next game, a 23-21 victory against Lakeside on the 7th. As for Camden Fairview, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 40-21 loss against Parkview on the 6th.
