Baseball Recap: Mount Vernon Beats Annandale for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Mount Vernon waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Annandale Atoms as they made off with a 14-8 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-0 back in March.

Noah Toy was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Sean Peterson was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Hudson Grimsley was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Mount Vernon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .529 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Mount Vernon's record is now 10-4. As for Annandale, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.
