Baseball Recap: Roosevelt Bears vs. West Bloomfield Lakers
The Roosevelt Bears didn't have quite enough to beat the West Bloomfield Lakers on Friday and fell 8-6. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jadn' McGowen was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
McGowen wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Connor Bedo, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Peyton Webster was another, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Roosevelt now has a losing record of 12-13. As for West Bloomfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roosevelt will face off against Melvindale at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for West Bloomfield, they will challenge Troy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lakers 3.6, the Colts 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
