Basketball Recap: Riverside Comes Up Short

Riverside's game on Saturday was all tied up 21-21 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell 55-48 to the Chester County Eagles. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 65-57.

Despite the defeat, Riverside saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jack Cupples dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Swindle, who posted eight points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Riverside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive matchups.

Riverside's loss dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Chester County, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-12.

Riverside wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 67-56 win against Liberty Tech Magnet on the 28th. As for Chester County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 79-55 defeat against Jackson North Side on the 28th.
