Softball Preview: Potomac Falls Panthers vs. Riverside Ram

After three games on the road, Potomac Falls is heading back home. They will take on the Riverside Ram at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

After only one run in their last matchup, Potomac Falls made sure to put some runs up on the board against Dominion on Friday. Potomac Falls came out on top in a nail-biter against Dominion and snuck past 12-10.

Charlotte Smith made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Smith was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Avvisato was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Kaylee Kadans looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive pitching appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Marissa Skinner, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlotte Moore, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Potomac Falls' victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-5. As for Riverside, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.
