Recap: Aquinas Monarchs vs. Archbishop Bergan Knights
After losing to the Archbishop Bergan Knights the last time they met, the Aquinas Monarchs decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Aquinas escaped with a win on Saturday against Archbishop Bergan by the margin of a single free throw, 47-46.
Aquinas' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryant Stouffer, who scored 16 points along with 9 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Stouffer has scored at least 25% of Aquinas' points. Kasen Lavicky was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 3 steals.
Aquinas' win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Archbishop Bergan, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Aquinas has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Bishop Neumann. Bishop Neumann has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Archbishop Bergan, they will head out on the road to face off against Lourdes Central Catholic at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
