Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Eden Monarchs vs. Dougherty Valley Wildcats

The Mt. Eden Monarchs will head out on the road to face off against the Dougherty Valley Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Thursday, Mt. Eden was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 48-43 to Berkeley.

Meanwhile, Dougherty Valley fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Dublin on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 65-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gaels. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 297th, while the Gaels are ranked 140th).

Mt. Eden's record is now 5-10. As for Dougherty Valley, their record now sits at 16-9.

Mt. Eden strolled past Dougherty Valley in their previous matchup back in February of 2017 by a score of 46-29. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mt. Eden since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
