Brownstown Central and Southwestern are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Braves will take on the Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Brownstown Central will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
The home team had come away the winner the last six times Brownstown Central and Eastern had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Braves put the hurt on the Musketeers with a sharp 12-0 victory on Thursday. That looming 12-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Braves yet this season.
Kye Trueblood made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Lane Pendleton and Grant Killey did most of the damage at the plate: Pendleton went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Killey went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Pendleton a new career-high. Lane Steward also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Brownstown Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Southwestern earned a 7-4 win over Rising Sun on Tuesday. The Rebels haven't had any issues with the Shiners recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
The team relied heavily on Austin Jenkins, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Braxton Lewis, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Brownstown Central's record is now 3-1. As for Southwestern, their record now sits at 4-2.
Southwestern's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Brownstown Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316.
