Basketball Game Preview: Mahanoy Area Golden Bears vs. Lehigh Valley Academy Jaguars

The Mahanoy Area Golden Bears will venture away from home to face off against the Lehigh Valley Academy Jaguars at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Monday, Mahanoy Area was fully in charge, breezing past Nativity BVM 59-12. The Golden Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 21 points or more this season.

Mahanoy Area's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lilly Carl, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Carl continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Felicia Bro, who posted ten points and six steals.

Meanwhile, Lehigh Valley Academy hadn't done well against Lincoln Leadership Academy recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Lehigh Valley Academy came out on top against Lincoln Leadership Academy by a score of 43-36.

Mahanoy Area has also been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.5 points per game. As for Lehigh Valley Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.
