Baseball Recap: Taft Wins Going Away Against Brooks

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Thursday. Taft put the hurt on Brooks with a sharp 13-0 win. Taft hasn't had any issues with Brooks recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Taft got a great performance from Jackson Wilhelm as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Wilhelm also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Taft is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-12 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Ethan Acosta was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Israel Rodriguez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Taft always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brooks only posted an OBP of .222.

Taft's win bumped their record up to 12-13. As for Brooks, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-16.

Looking ahead, Taft will challenge Wheaton Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Brooks does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
