Basketball Recap: Sebastopol Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Sebastopol walked away with it. They enjoyed a cozy 53-35 win over Bogue Chitto on Friday. The victory was nothing new for Sebastopol as they're now sitting on six straight.

Sebastopol was led to victory by Marlee Smith and Laila Rogers. Smith went 7-for-14 en route to 20 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Rogers posted 13 points in addition to eight boards and five steals. Smith has been hot for a while, having posted four or more steals the last 16 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Allie Burkes, who scored six points.

Sebastopol smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 18 offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Sebastopol's win bumped their record up to 19-10. As for Bogue Chitto, they now have a losing record of 13-14.

Looking ahead, Sebastopol will be playing at home against Simmons at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bogue Chitto does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
