Football Game Preview: Fairport Red Raiders vs. Pittsford Panthers + Official Tickets

Fairport is 2-8 against Pittsford since October of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Red Raiders are taking a road trip to take on the Panthers at 2:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

On Friday, Fairport lost to McQuaid Jesuit at home by a 21-6 margin.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Pittsford, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Aquinas Institute 10-7. Those ten points were actually the fewest the Panthers have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Pittsford's win came from a few key players Fairport will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Eric Chen, who rushed for 111 yards on only 12 carries. He has become a key player for Pittsford: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 2-3 otherwise.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Pittsford's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Ashton Hanlon, Mikolaj Vaughn, and Charlie Carey, who each picked up one sack apiece.

The victory got Pittsford back to even at 4-4. As for Fairport, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Fairport was able to grind out a solid win over Pittsford in their previous matchup back in September, winning 34-21. Do the Red Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
