Volleyball Game Preview: Wausau West Warriors vs. Wausau East Lumberjacks

A classic East v. West matchup is on the schedule. The Wausau West Warriors will take on the Wausau East Lumberjacks on Saturday. Wausau West will be strutting in after a victory while Wausau East will be coming in after a loss.

Wausau West took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln. The Warriors have beaten the Red Raiders the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Red Raiders has come to flipping the script.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Wausau West took every set by at least 25 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-0, 25-0, 25-0.

Meanwhile, Wausau East came up short against Marshfield on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The Lumberjacks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Wausau East was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Marshfield work for it, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 26-24, 25-12.

Wausau West's win bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Wausau East, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-19.

Wausau West was able to grind out a solid victory over Wausau East when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
