Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Nimitz

Nimitz waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over the Benjamin Davis Falcons. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 19-3 back in March.

Josephine Bilbao and Kamila Reyna did most of the damage at the plate: Bilbao scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4, while Reyna went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those five RBI gave Reyna a new career-high. Abigail Ruiz was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Nimitz kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 13.

Nimitz's win bumped their record up to 7-13. As for Benjamin Davis, they are on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-18.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Nimitz is set to take on their familiar foe Eisenhower at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Benjamin Davis will square off against rival Westfield at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
