Basketball Recap: Mendon Unity Mustangs vs. Liberty Eagles
Mendon Unity was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 50-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Liberty Eagles. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February.
Liberty found their leader in sophomore Chandler John, who went 6 for 12 en route to 17 points plus three steals. What's more, John also posted a 50% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Claire Obert, who posted eight points in addition to three steals.
Mendon Unity's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Liberty, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
Mendon Unity will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Rushville-Industry at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Liberty, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-40 loss against Hamilton/Warsaw on the 30th.
