Carson is 2-7 against Reno since November of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Senators will be playing in front of their home fans against the Huskies at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Carson had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 36-point drubbing they dealt Wooster on Thursday. The Senators blew past the Colts 42-6.
Carson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Santino Ferretti, who rushed for 47 yards and one TD.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Carson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 245 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.
Reno's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Carson on Thursday. The Huskies really took it to North Valleys for the full four quarters, racking up a 45-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won six in a row.
Carson better keep an eye on Braylon Wilson. He was instrumental in Reno's win, throwing for 194 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 56 yards and one score. Another rusher making a difference was Jackson Mathews, who rushed for 96 yards and one TD on only eight carries.
One reason for the win was Reno's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 4.5 sacks. The team can thank one different players for their defensive prowess: Mathews, who each picked up 0.5 sacks apiece.
Carson's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Reno, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 6-4.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Carson has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 188.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Reno struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 207.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
