Football Recap: Christian's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

With a playoff win on the line, Christian rose to the challenge on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Ramona Bulldogs, sneaking past 31-28. For the Patriots, this counts as revenge for the 28-0 victory the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2022.

Kaleb Runkle was nothing short of spectacular: he threw for 306 yards and four TDs while completing 76.2% of his passes. He is becoming a predictor of Christian's success: when he posts at least 250 passing yards the team is 2-1 (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Ronnie Scott was Runkle's top target, picking up 107 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Another reason for the win was Christian's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Julian Morones, Hank Houston, and Hayden Jeremiah, who each picked up one sack apiece.

The win was the third in a row for Christian, bringing their record up to 5-7. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 27.0 points over those games. As for Ramona, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Coming up, Christian will face off against Army-Navy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' defense has only allowed 13.4 points per game this season, so the Patriots' offense will have their work cut out for them. Ramona does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
