Baseball Recap: Arroyo Valley Hawks vs. JW North Huskies

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Grand Terrace, Arroyo Valley was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They blew past the JW North Huskies 10-1. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Hawks considering their one-run performance the game before.

Jake Jimenez and Ian Escobar made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Jimenez pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Meanwhile, Escobar pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Arroyo Valley is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-2 otherwise. At bat, Jimenez scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Escobar scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, Escobar posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in February of 2024.

Looking ahead, Arroyo Valley will venture away from home to square off against Bloomington at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Bloomington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season. As for JW North, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Grand Terrace at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Grand Terrace will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something JW North surely won't give up without a fight.
