Preview: Hackettstown vs. Vernon
Vernon will challenge Hackettstown on the road at 7:00 PM on Friday. Both teams will be looking for a pick-me-up after considerable defeats in their previous games.
Vernon have to be hurting after a devastating 7-40 loss at the hands of Morris Hills last week. Vernon got a solid performance out of senior Jeremy Kayhart, who rushed for 69 yards and 1 touchdown; unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the victory. In fact, with 11 tackles Kayhart was a force on both sides of the ball.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 7-56, which was the final score in Hackettstown's tilt against Madison. Hackettstown were in a tough position by the half, with the score sitting at 7-42.
Given their recent losses, both teams have a little extra motivation heading into this weekend. Neither squad could put together much of an offensive attack, so expect every point to count.
