Basketball Recap: Menendez Skates Past Matanzas with Ease

Menendez posted their biggest win since December 5, 2023 on Wednesday. They breezed by the Matanzas Pirates to the tune of 57-19. The Falcons have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Pirates, too.

It was another big night for Sophia Scibelli, who posted 20 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals. Another player making a difference was Princess Watkins, who had eight points and four steals.

Menendez was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Menendez now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Matanzas, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

Menendez will head out to challenge Raines at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Raines will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Menendez surely won't give up without a fight. As for Matanzas, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Trinity Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
