Softball Recap: Elk Grove Drops Season-High Score on Laguna Creek

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Elk Grove). They put the hurt on the Laguna Creek Cardinals with a sharp 13-1 win on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Thundering Herd in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won eight in a row.

The team relied heavily on Ryann Wolfe, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jadyn Magnuson, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Elk Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Elk Grove pushed their record up to 10-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Laguna Creek, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Elk Grove is set to face off against their familiar foe Sheldon at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Thundering Herd 3.6, the Huskies 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Laguna Creek will challenge rival Monterey Trail at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
