Basketball Recap: Woodmont Takes a Loss

Woodmont won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Wednesday. They came up short against the Greenville Red Raiders, falling 80-55. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while the Red Raiders are ranked sixth).

Woodmont's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Greenville, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woodmont won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Hillcrest at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Woodmont knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 contests -- so hopefully Hillcrest likes a good challenge. As for Greenville, they will be playing at home against Easley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
