Basketball Recap: Marian Catholic Comes Up Short

Marian Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 51-40 to the Williams Valley Vikings. Marian Catholic was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Williams Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Marian Catholic saw an underclassman step up: freshman Gregory Tirpak dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tirpak has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Rocco Griguoli, who posted three points and 11 rebounds.

Marian Catholic now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Williams Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.

Marian Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Shenandoah Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Marian Catholic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.5 points per game this season. As for Williams Valley, they will welcome Weatherly at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
