Basketball Game Preview: Pell City Panthers vs. Springville Tigers + Official Tickets

Pell City has gone 8-2 against Springville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Panthers will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Pell City will be strutting in after a victory while Springville will be coming in after a defeat.

On Monday, Pell City humbled Leeds with an 82-34 victory. The Panthers have beaten the Greenwave the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Greenwave has come to flipping the script.

Pell City can attribute much of their success to Zaniya Mitchell, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten steals, and Saniya McFarlin, who went 10-for-16 to rack up 25 points and four steals. Those ten steals gave Mitchell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jamiriah Hill, who shot 67% from beyond the arc en route to 18 points.

Pell City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Springville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 51-37 bruising from Fort Payne.

Pell City now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Springville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Pell City strolled past Springville in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 46-28. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
