Cornerstone Family is on a five-game streak of home wins, while the Nighthawks are on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Cornerstone Family Saints will take on the Northeast Kansas Nighthawks HomeSchool Nighthawks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cornerstone Family has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up nine more assists than your opponent, a fact Cornerstone Family proved on Friday. They blew past Shawnee Mission Christian, posting a 53-16 victory at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Cornerstone Family has managed all season.
Cornerstone Family's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Lexi Culberth, who scored 11 points along with eight steals, and Kaylee Heinen, who scored 26 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Culberth has scored all season. Liz Brown was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Northeast Kansas Nighthawks HomeSchool strolled past the Knights with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 54-39.
Northeast Kansas Nighthawks HomeSchool can attribute much of their success to Sami Baum, who scored 15 points, and Laurel Schwensen, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Allie Sifford, who scored eight points.
Cornerstone Family has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. As for Northeast Kansas Nighthawks HomeSchool, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.
Cornerstone Family might still be hurting after the 45-19 loss they got from the Nighthawks when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Cornerstone Family avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
