Basketball Game Preview: Lakewood Lancers vs. Heath Bulldogs

Lakewood is 0-10 against Heath since January of 2021 but things could change on Saturday. The Lakewood Lancers will face off against the Heath Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m.

Lakewood is headed into Saturday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They came up short against Northridge, falling 54-33.

Meanwhile, Heath had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.2 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They breezed past the Redskins to the tune of 63-31. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 20 points or more this season.

Lakewood better keep an eye on Preston DeVito. He was instrumental in Heath's win, going 9-for-10 en route to 19 points and five boards. DeVito continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Duston, who posted ten points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Heath pushed their record up to 20-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 21 points. As for Lakewood, their loss dropped their record down to 3-19.

Lakewood suffered a grim 59-37 defeat to Heath in their previous matchup back in January. Can Lakewood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
