Softball Recap: Milford Wins Going Away Against Kettering

Milford's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Kettering Captains as they made off with a 17-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Mavericks in their matchups with the Captains: they've now won three in a row.

Tori Russell made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Russell was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Marisa Merz was incredible, firing off three home runs, eight RBI, and four runs while going 4-for-4. Those three home runs gave her a new career-high. Hana Scripture was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Milford lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Milford's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Kettering, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Milford will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Captains: the pair will be back at it again later today.
